What Do We Earn?

Privacy

This site collects nothing that can be linked to you. No account, no login, no name, no email, no phone number.

What we store

These are stored as one linked record, but that record contains no field that identifies you.

Your IP address

Your IP address is not stored. We keep only an irreversible hash of it, salted with a secret key, and it is used for exactly one thing: stopping the same connection from submitting many times. The hash cannot be turned back into an address.

The web server's access logs have their IP fields stripped.

Cookies

We use no tracking or advertising cookies and load no third-party analytics. One cookie is set if — and only if — you switch language, so that your choice survives your next visit. The page counter uses a random number held in your browser's session storage; it is deleted when you close the tab and is not linked to anything.

What a shared link reveals

The result page and the share card do not show your salary. Both show only the percentile.

To be explicit: a percentile and a household-size-adjusted income can be converted into one another, because the formula is published in full on the methodology page. So anyone who wants to do the arithmetic can recover your adjusted income from a shared link. We are not presenting that as private.

Since we added the world ranking, more can be worked out than that, and we would rather say so than let you find out later. The two percentiles are computed with different divisors — the national one with an equivalence scale, the world one with plain household size. Someone who takes both numbers and inverts the published formulas can narrow down how many people are in your household, and from there your household income. It takes deliberate effort and the arithmetic is not obvious, but it is possible.

What still cannot be recovered is your own salary: the page never distinguishes your pay from the rest of the household's. In a single-person household those are the same thing, so if you live alone, treat a shared link as showing roughly what you earn.

The result page also shows your occupation, and in Türkiye your city, for the comparison rows. Know that before you share the link.

The line showing your adjusted income appears only in the browser that produced the result; that value is never written to the shared record. It is kept in the anonymous statistical record.

The detailed report

If you buy the report, payment happens on Stripe's side; card details never touch this server. We collect no email, so we cannot send the report to you — it is given as a link, and you need to keep that link.

The report does not contain your salary, your household income, or how many people are in your household. Every number in it is something already derivable from the percentile, which is public; what is sold is the calculation, not new information.

How the data is used

Submitted records are used to produce aggregate statistics. A city or occupation breakdown is shown only once that segment has at least 100 records; below that, no figure is published at all. A single record cannot be picked out this way either.

The national percentile is not computed from user submissions. It comes from official income distribution statistics — Eurostat, the OECD, or the country's own statistics office. Details on the methodology page.

Third parties

Cloudflare Turnstile is used for bot protection. It runs in invisible mode: nothing appears on screen and you are never given a puzzle. During verification your IP address and browser details are sent to Cloudflare; we do not store them. How Cloudflare handles that data is set out in the Turnstile Privacy Addendum.

Retention

Anonymous records are kept indefinitely for statistical purposes. Because we collect nothing tied to your identity, there is no personal record of yours to request the deletion of.
